The Democratic Alliance (DA) is proud to announce Igshaan Sulliman as our mayoral candidate for Dawid Kruiper Municipality in the 2026 Local Government Elections.

Born and raised in Upington, Igshaan is deeply rooted in the community he now seeks to serve. He is widely known as someone who is approachable, accessible and never afraid to tackle problems head on. Whether listening to the concerns of residents on the streets or holding those in power accountable, he has built a reputation as someone who gets things done.

For too long, Dawid Kruiper has been held back by poor governance, failing infrastructure and missed opportunities. Igshaan is stepping forward with a clear commitment to change.

His priority is simple: restore a municipality that works for its people.

Under his leadership, the DA will focus on fixing basic services, maintaining roads and infrastructure, strengthening financial management, creating an environment where businesses can grow and jobs can be created, and bringing responsible financial management back to Dawid Kruiper so that municipal resources are used to deliver real results for residents.

He believes local government should be there for its people. That means being out in the community, keeping an open door and working side by side local businesses and community leaders to solve problems and get things done.

As Igshaan said in accepting his nomination: “I stand before you not as a politician seeking power, but as a son of this soil, eager to restore our pride.”

The DA is confident that his energy and deep commitment to the people of Dawid Kruiper make him the right leader to take the municipality forward.

The DA encourages voters to get behind Igshaan and the DA so that, together, we can restore pride in Dawid Kruiper and build a municipality that delivers opportunities, honest leadership and a better future for every resident.
