The Democratic Alliance (DA) flighted the first Local Government Election 2026 poster in the Northern Cape, in Kimberley today, where we are working hard to stop the ongoing demise of the capital City under the leadership of the ANC government.
It is heartbreaking to witness the decay of Kimberley. A once proud place to live and raise a family, has deteriorated into a city marked by neglect, crumbling roads, sewage spills, rising lawlessness, and deepening poverty, with more people forced to live on the streets and survive off of refuse.
Too many people continue to watch the collapse of our city from the sidelines, believing that voting will not make a difference, or that politics doesn’t affect them. Nothing could be further from the truth. Politics dictates everything, from public safety to whether refuse is collected and basic services are delivered.
Our message is therefore a clear call to action, encouraging every eligible citizen to demand better municipal governance, improved service delivery and opportunity, by registering to vote for the DA at the 2026 Local Government Election (LGE).
Residents will not be allowed to vote on 4 November if they are not properly registered at the correct voting station where they live. All citizens who desire a better future in Kimberley, including young people who will have turned 18 by the time of the LGE, therefore need to make use of voter registration weekend, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 20th -21st June, to register for the first time, or check their registration details.
Only through the power of the vote, can order be restored to the political chaos in Sol Plaatje municipality. That’s why this registration campaign is so important, and why it is so critical that more people exercise their democratic power through proper voter registration.
