Today, the Democratic Alliance unveiled our first campaign slogan poster in the Northern Cape, in Upington.
This marks the next phase of our campaign to win more support, take back more municipalities, and get towns across the province working again.
Upington is one of the Northern Cape’s key business centres and a major focus of our campaign. It is a town with enormous potential, but years of poor municipal governance have allowed decline to set in. Investment is being driven away, opportunities are being lost, and the region’s economic potential is being left untapped.
Together with DA Dawid Kruiper Mayoral Candidate Igshaan Sulliman, we are confident that we can build the support needed to enter local government and begin the work of rebuilding the municipality.
The DA has already laid a strong foundation for our campaign. We have run a successful voter registration drive, launched five mayoral candidates across key municipalities, and finalised our candidate lists. Most importantly, we are proud to be fielding candidates in every ward, in every municipality, across the Northern Cape.
That is a powerful testament to how much the DA’s footprint has grown across the province, reaching communities in the most far-flung rural villages.
Now, our mission is to take our message of getting towns working to every corner of the Northern Cape.
Every eligible voter has the power to change the direction of their municipality. Residents must understand that there is still hope and that the decline they see and feel around them can be stopped. It is the result of political choices, failed leadership and years of poor governance, and it can be reversed.
The DA is ready to bring change and to establish capable local governments and create environments in which local economies can flourish all over the Northern Cape.
Ten weeks from now voters have the power to say “no” to more of the same decline and vote to get their towns working again.
