Under the leadership of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Nama Khoi coalition, the municipality is building a modern, debt-free municipal fleet that is improving service delivery and making a difference in residents’ daily lives.
This progress has only been possible because, since taking office in 2021, the DA has made restoring Nama Khoi Municipality’s financial health a top priority. By managing public money responsibly and through disciplined spending, the municipality has turned years of financial instability around. Today, it is in a position to invest in the equipment and resources needed to improve service delivery for residents.
Last month, the municipality took delivery of two new state-of-the-art sewer vacuum trucks fitted with modern suction tanks, increasing the operational sewerage fleet from three to five vehicles. This significantly strengthens the municipality’s ability to provide one of its most critical public health services by enabling municipal teams to respond to more requests, reduce long-standing backlogs, and deliver a faster, more reliable service. Communities including Concordia, Steinkopf, Buffelsrivier and Komaggas are expected to benefit directly from this expanded capacity.
The new sewer vacuum trucks follow the recent addition of two new pickup trucks and three machines, including a road grader, to improve operational efficiency, road maintenance, infrastructure upkeep and service delivery across Nama Khoi. A new refuse truck is also expected to be delivered soon.
Importantly, every vehicle has been purchased outright with cash, without incurring any debt. The expansion of Nama Khoi’s municipal fleet therefore marks a major milestone, strengthening service delivery while protecting residents from additional financial burdens.
This is the DA’s approach to government: restore financial stability, spend public money responsibly, invest in essential infrastructure, and deliver better services.
A second DA-led term in Nama Khoi will build on this momentum by renewing municipal infrastructure, strengthening water and sanitation services, supporting local economic growth, and continuing the municipality’s journey from one of financial recovery to service delivery excellence.
The work has begun, but there is still more to do. The DA is therefore calling on the people of Nama Khoi to register to vote and support a second DA-led term so that this progress can continue.
Together, we can build a municipality that manages its finances responsibly, delivers reliable services, and works for every resident.
