On Friday, 29 August 2025, DA Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Sello Seitlholo, will be joining the DA’s Diamond South Constituency Head, Dr Delmaine Christians MP, and DA councillor, Lemfvia van Niekerk, on an oversight inspection to assess water and sanitation challenges experienced in the areas of Selfbou and New Park.
Residents are dependent on Jo-Jo tanks, erected by the DA, to meet their daily water needs. The DA’s offer to extend a water pipeline from the Jo-Jo tanks, to make water more accessible to residents, has been blocked by the municipality, which has failed to institute its own initiatives to ensure sustainable water provision to these communities. Residents are also without sanitation and make use of the veld as their toilet.
