The Democratic Alliance (DA) congratulates DA councillor, Rodney Kritzinger, on his election as Mayor of Nama-Khoi coalition municipality and we are confident that under his leadership, the municipality will continue to thrive.
This follows the local government coalition agreement signed with the Namakwa Civic Movement (NCM) in 2021, stating that the key positions of mayor and speaker would be rotated halfway through the term by the DA and the NCM. Kritzinger, who had up to now served as the speaker, takes up the position previously filled by Dr Gustav Bock, while Bock now fills the position of speaker.
Since inception of the Nama-Khoi coalition municipality after the 2021 Local Government Elections (LGE), the municipality has made significant strides in service delivery and improving financial management within the institution. While a lot of works remains, Kritzinger, who is committed to servant leadership, will place his focus on expanding equal access to services to all towns and wards within Nama-Khoi. He has also committed to placing a special focus on streetlights, roads and water provision.
The DA looks forward to the second half of the municipal term in Nama-Khoi. We have no doubt that during the next two and a half years, Kritzinger and the team will continue to build extensively on the work already done in Springbok and the surroundings towns.
